Intelligent document processing
Automate the documents that never became EDI
Even with mature EDI programs, a large share of business documents still arrive as PDFs, emails and spreadsheets. ECOM combines PRISM-SmartConvert with validation rules and review workflows to turn those documents into reliable data for your ERP.

What is intelligent document processing (IDP)?
Intelligent document processing is the use of technologies such as optical character recognition, machine learning and rules to classify documents, extract key data and validate it automatically. Unlike basic OCR, IDP handles layout variations across senders and uses confidence scores to send uncertain results to a person for review.
Outcomes
What you can expect
Less manual keying
Staff review exceptions instead of typing every order and invoice.
More consistent data

Every partner automated
Partners who cannot send EDI still feed automated processes.

Frequently asked questions
How is IDP different from OCR?
OCR converts images of text into characters. IDP goes further by understanding document structure, extracting specific fields, validating them and routing exceptions for review.
What documents work best?
Business documents with recurring data, such as purchase orders, invoices and shipping documents, are good candidates. ECOM evaluates your samples to confirm fit.
Does a person still need to be involved?
Yes, for exceptions. A review step for low-confidence or invalid data keeps quality high while automation handles routine documents.
