Migration and modernization

Move platforms without disrupting partners

Platform migrations touch every partner and every map, so they need careful planning and execution. ECOM's migration services cover the full path from assessment to decommissioning, delivered in phases that keep production stable.

What is EDI platform migration?

An EDI platform migration moves partner connections, maps, business processes and operational procedures from one integration platform to another. A safe migration includes inventory and assessment, target design, map conversion or redesign, partner communication, parallel testing, phased cutover and retirement of the old platform.

Why teams choose it

Benefits

01

Lower cutover risk

Phased cutovers with rollback plans limit the impact of issues.

02

Partner coordination handled

ECOM manages partner communication and testing.

03

A cleaner end state

Migration is an opportunity to retire unused maps and standardize designs.

Scope

What's included

  • Inventory and assessment

Catalog partners, maps, processes, connections and dependencies.

  • Map conversion

Convert maps where practical and redesign those that need it.

  • Partner cutover

Coordinate connection changes and testing with each partner.

  • Parallel validation

Compare outputs between old and new platforms before cutover.

  • Decommissioning

Retire legacy servers, scripts and licenses.

Fit

When it fits

Legacy translator replacement

Move off EDI software that no longer receives vendor support or security fixes.

IBM Sterling upgrades or migrations

Upgrade Sterling or migrate to PRISM, depending on what fits.

Frequently asked questions

How do you minimize downtime during migration?

Partners are moved in waves, with parallel testing and rollback plans, so most partners are unaffected at any given time.

Can maps be converted automatically?

Some map logic can be converted with tooling, but every map is reviewed and tested. Complex or outdated maps are often redesigned.

Will partners need to retest?

Some partners require testing when connection details change. ECOM coordinates that testing.
