IBM Sterling services

IBM Sterling specialists for every stage of your B2B platform

The challenge

Why Sterling environments need specialist attention

IBM Sterling platforms often run for a decade or more. Over time the people who built them move on, versions fall behind, certificates and adapters multiply, and business processes accumulate custom logic nobody fully documents. Meanwhile partners keep changing requirements and volumes keep growing. The result is an environment that is critical to revenue but difficult to change safely.

  • Skills to administer and develop on Sterling are scarce and hard to retain
  • Versions and fix packs fall behind, raising support and security risk
  • Partner onboarding and map changes queue behind a small team
  • Performance and database growth problems appear as volumes rise
  • Legacy Gentran or older Sterling releases need a migration plan

Lifecycle

From assessment to steady-state operations

  1. 01

    Assess

Review the environment, versions, architecture, partners, maps and operational risks, and agree priorities.

  2. 02

    Plan

Define the target: stay current on Sterling, move to containers or the cloud, consolidate, or migrate — with a phased roadmap.

  3. 03

    Implement or upgrade

Install, upgrade or migrate with test plans, partner coordination and a rollback path.

  4. 04

    Operate

Administer, monitor and support production, as a managed service or alongside your team.

Frequently asked questions

Which IBM Sterling products does ECOM work with?

ECOM provides services for IBM Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling File Gateway, Sterling Connect:Direct, Sterling Secure Proxy, Sterling Transformation Extender and IBM Sterling VAN connectivity, as well as Sterling Order Management, IBM MQ, IBM App Connect and IBM API Connect.

Can ECOM take over administration of an existing Sterling environment?

Yes. ECOM can administer and support an existing environment as a managed service, or work alongside your team through EDI Team as a Service. Scope and coverage are defined in the service agreement.

Do we have to move off IBM Sterling to work with ECOM?

No. ECOM helps organizations stay on Sterling and modernize it, and also helps those who decide to migrate. The recommendation depends on your requirements, not on a single platform.

Do you work with automotive suppliers on IBM Sterling?

Yes. Automotive is one of ECOM's core industries. ECOM's Sterling specialists develop and support the maps and business processes that carry automotive schedules, ship notices and invoices, and can move them to PRISM when that is the right path.

How do we start?

Most engagements start with a conversation about your environment and goals, often followed by a health check or assessment. The scope, format and any fees are agreed with you before work begins.
